“Anne-Marie Giroux’s two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork effectively leverages an interdisciplinary set of materials to speak to a set of existential themes. FEMME AU CHAPEAU ROSE À LA DÉRIVE draws upon the histories of surrealist assemblage to represent the precarity of living and working as an artist. Giroux makes use of unconventional materials in the Nocturnes series to speak to the themes of life and loss. The works in the series make effective use of opacity, and the suggestion of material transformation serves her subject matter of ephemerality and transformation well.”
