Le regard de l’artiste perce la surface des choses pour en révéler la dimension esthétique. Cette capacité de projection est l’apanage du créateur qui ne se contente pas de voir le réel, il perçoit l’invisible, le sous-jacent pour en extraire un langage universel. Anne-Marie Giroux s’inscrit dans cette communauté d’artiste qui nous touche par ses visions et la sensibilité de ses compositions. Son approche de l’art ne saurait l’enfermer dans un mouvement ou une mécanique. Chaque projet est un support d’expression libre qui lui permet de développer son imaginaire et sa poésie comme une matrice à l’écoute de ses sentiments. Dans ses œuvres, le corps est souvent présent pour signifier son impermanence, la fragilité de la condition humaine. Il est symbolisé par des têtes, des masques cassés, des enveloppes vides, prisons de l’âme. Il revêt parfois la forme d’un trait, d’un fil, d’une racine frêle pouvant rompre à tout moment. L’artiste joue ainsi avec la tradition picturale du memento mori et met en scène son propre langage comme une geste épurée d’une grande force évocatrice. Dans ses installations, elle va constituer des cabinets de curiosité en collectant fragments d’objets du quotidien, outils et matière picturale qui devient organique sous ses doigts. Son art pourrait s’apparenter à une forme de ballet aérien où le corps serait réduit à sa plus simple forme, silhouettes fantomatiques, scories de couleurs comme autant de traces fugaces de notre passage sur terre. L’artiste réalise un tour de force en créant l’illusion du mouvement comme si ses figures étaient suspendues à une chorégraphie intemporelle qu’un simple regard parviendrait à animer. Ses créations nous plongent dans des univers oniriques, des paysages intérieurs qui reflètent la complexité de nos états émotionnels entre douceur et noirceur. Anne-Marie Giroux est une artiste du vivant qui crée comme elle respire, la tête dans les nuages et les pieds ancrés dans la terre. La diversité des médiums et la qualité de ses compositions nous prouvent que l’art est un formidable moyen de piéger le temps et de tromper la mort…

The artist’s gaze punctures the surface of things to reveal their aesthetic dimension. This ability to project oneself beyond the tangible world is unique to creators, who seek to extend their perception to that underlying, invisible portion of reality, and tap into its universal language. Anne-Marie Giroux is one of those artists who can move us by their visions and the sensibility of their compositions. Her approach to art cannot be reduced to mere movements or mechanics. Each project represents a new canvas for free expression that allows the artist to further her poetry and personal imagery, a substrate that perfectly moulds her emotional reality. The presence of the body in her works is often used to signify the impermanence and fragility of the human condition. Symbolized by heads, broken masks or empty husks—prisons of the soul—it can also take on the form of a line, a thread, or some frail root on the verge of breaking. Revisiting the pictorial tradition of memento mori, Giroux stages her own language, like a distilled gest of great evocative power. In her installations, she fashions cabinets of curiosities by collecting fragments of everyday objects and tools, as well as painting medium, which in her hands becomes a truly organic substance. Her art could be described as a form of aerial ballet, in which bodies are reduced to their simplest form: ghostly silhouettes and colourful dregs, the fleeting traces of our passage on earth. But the artist’s true tour de force is her ability to generate an illusion of movement in her works, as if the figures in it were suspended in a timeless choreography that a simple glance could animate. Her creations draw us into dreamlike worlds and inner landscapes that reflect the soft, dark complexity of our emotional states. Anne-Marie Giroux is an artist who lives and breathes creation; head in the clouds and feet rooted into the earth.
